Breaking through the noise

An interesting article in Pacific Standard yesterday about just how difficult it is for a movie to break through the noise. In this case, we’re talking about Blackfish, the suddenly prominent documentary about SeaWorld’s killer whale Tilikum, which had been released for a whole year to a slew of positive reviews before it started receiving attention from everyday audiences.

So now everybody’s heard about it. But even then, how many have actually seen it?
