Those great folks at the “Sci-Fi Channel”:http://www.scifi.com are really onto something new — producing original, low-budget genre movies for their Saturday night lineup.
Man, does this make sense. When you’re home alone, on a Saturday night, with nothing better to do than watch TV, wouldn’t you rather be watching something like “Mansquito”:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0430334/ ? Plus, it’s just great to see a television station producing their own original movies again, instead of all this cheap “reality TV” crap that turned me off the tube along time ago.
One of my favorite low-budget stars, “Bruce Campbell”:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0132257/ wrote, directed and starred in one of these movies, called “The Man With the Screaming Brain”:http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365478/ and, I don’t know about you, but the title alone makes it worth a peek.
To get the full scoop, check out the “New York Times article”:http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/10/arts/television/10beal.html?pagewanted=2&8hpib for better details. You’ll have to register first, though. Bummer.
